“A Crash Course in Faking Mastery” is a workshop where we aim to debunk the myth of „faking it till you make it“. The ability to convincingly adapt and even „fake it“ when necessary, is a valuable asset in the world of dance. Sometimes, we find ourselves in situations where we have little preparation time or no experience of what is required of us. In this workshop, we will playfully embrace the art of being convincing in whatever we do, whether it is mastering new movements, embodying a character, improvising, or making a phrase. Over the course of five intensive days, we will explore five key concepts/skills that build an artist’s versatility and lie beyond the surface of technique. Through guided exercises and improvisations we will explore:

1. Rhythmicality & musicality

2. Theatricality, expressivity & embodiment

3. Improvisation techniques

4. Remembering choreography & the ability to compose

5. Identity formation & exploring your own unique presence

We are not just mastering dance; we are mastering the art of faking it.

Daniel performs across Europe for celebrated artists such as Moritz Ostruschnjak, Simone Forti, Paula Rosolen, Alexandra Pirici, Emi Miyoshi, Niels Weijer and Simon Vincenzi. In 2023, he joined the Residenztheater in Munich as a dancer for the production „Andersens Erzählungen“. In his own choreographic practice, he focuses on the intersection of dance and digitality and the role of „liveness“ in contemporary performance. In 2022, Daniel was named „Dancer of the Year“ by the German magazine tanz.
