“It is through movement itself that we become human bodies. How can we be soft yet strong, use our energy wisely and manage to listen to our bodies? How do we remain honest and humble? How do we practice gentleness that can still surprise and challenge ourselves? How do we nurture our curiosity in order to be playful and open with what is already present in our bodies?” (Laura Manz)

This workshop combines contemporary dance tools from floor work, improvisation, partner work and somatic practices. A joint, guided warm-up prepares the participants physically and mentally to move gently and let go of unnecessary tension. Tasks and improvisation suggestions are then used to deepen the connection to the floor (as eternal partner). By consciously exploring the anatomical relationships in the body, participants discover endless movement possibilities and new ways and articulations within their physical structure. At the same time, the workshop raises awareness of three-dimensional space, with the aim of creating a holistic experience and a knowing behavior between space (outside), body (inside) and mind (ephemeral/in-between). Through partner work, the participants feel how touching and being touched influences the way they move and how information flows through the body. What is important here is that only sensitive touch can create the connections for a common basis.

Laura leads workshops for professionals and amateurs, researches, performs and produces dance works. She has worked with Ceren Oran, Caroline Finn, Constantin Georgescu and other choreographers and has performed in theaters and public spaces. In these fields of activity, she questions how humans interact with nature, other living beings and themselves and how sensory perceptions and environmental influences affect the human body. Laura supports the Bad Lemons Project and TanzQuelle artistically.
