This course is aimed at advanced and professional dancers aged 50+. In guided improvisations and flexible movement sequences, participants will experience possible physical limitations not as obstacles but as personal freedom. This workshop is not about learning particularly challenging or even acrobatic movement vocabulary, but rather about a sensitive and conscious use of physicality in dance. In tasks from Stephan's choreographic practice, which deal with questions of presence, spatial awareness and rhythm, the participants use their individual body language and forms of non-verbal communication to choreograph creative processes together.
Stephan has created 15 full-length works since 2006. As a dancer he has worked with Cindy van Acker, Romeo Castellucci, Simone Forti, Sabine Glenz, Barbara Hammann, Amir Hosseinpour, Jessica Iwanson, Mia Lawrence, Xavier Le Roy, Felix Ruckert, Micha Purucker, Tino Sehgal, Mårten Spångberg, among others. In 2018, he was awarded the Förderpreis Tanz of the City of Munich and has been teaching contemporary dance forms for over 25 years.
