Moritz Ostruschnjak + Moritz Stumm
„HURRA“

As part of SYNAESTHETIX #1

19.30 h
Muffathalle

“Hurray” is a battle cry or cry of joy and the title of a performance that takes a look at the social, technical and political changes in our society.

Choreographer Moritz Ostruschnjak and artist Moritz Stumm have already collaborated on several productions, including Ostruschnjak's “UNSTERN”, “AUTOPLAY” and “YESTER:NOW”. What the two artists have in common is the principle of narration and a striking aesthetic that arises from the superimposition, copying, re-arrangement and re-connotation of existing and staged materials.  For SYNAESTHETIX #1, they use memorable scenes from earlier works to create a new, powerful and breathtaking collage.

Moritz Ostruschnjak

Coming from the sprayer scene, Moritz Ostruschnjak discovered his interest in contemporary dance through breakdancing. He studied at Iwanson International in Munich and completed his training with Maurice Béjart in Lausanne. This was followed by national and international engagements as a dancer. He has been working as a freelance choreographer in Munich since 2013 and has realized ten independent productions, most recently “CRY WHY” in 2024. His pieces have been presented at numerous European festivals and selected three times for the TANZPLATTFORM DEUTSCHLAND. In addition to his own productions, he also creates commissioned works, including “TRAILER PARK”, which premiered with the ensemble of tanzmainz in 2023. Moritz Ostruschnjak is one of the Aerowaves Twenty21 Artists, was awarded the Förderpreis Tanz of the City of Munich and is a member of the Bavarian Academy of Fine Arts and Tanztendenz München e.V.

Moritz Stumm

Moritz Stumm is an artist and label operator. His fields of activity range from video works, installations, objects and large-format ink drawings to audio-visual performances, which he realizes with artists such as Martin Eder, Nik Nowak and Henk Heuer. He is the founder and co-operator of the label Flipping the Coin Records, which publishes musical works by visual artists, as well as a musician and music video director. He studied fine arts at the Universität der Künste in Berlin with Lothar Baumgarten and Michaela Meise and graduated as a Meisterschüler in 2011. His works have been shown nationally and internationally, for example at the Museum Marta Herford, CTM Berlin, Sophiensaele, Volksbühne, the kitchen in New York, Muszeu National de Arta al Romaniel in Bucharest, Art Basel Miami and HMKV in Dortmund.
